Founded by Robert Smith, Albuquerque, New Mexico

M.Y.D.A.R. Foundation Inc. was born from real-life struggle, redemption, and a vision to give youth what so many of us never had — guidance, opportunity, and belief in ourselves.

Our founder, Robert Smith, grew up right here in Albuquerque. His life began in hardship — witnessing violence at a young age, losing his mother to prison, and growing up without a stable home or parental guidance. By his teenage years, he was forced to survive on his own, caught between poverty, the streets, and the struggle to find direction.

Robert turned to hustling just to survive. Like many young people growing up surrounded by gangs, violence, and addiction, he didn’t see any other way. Eventually, his choices led him to prison — but that’s where his transformation began.

During his incarceration, Robert made a promise to himself: he would never go back to that life. He earned his GED, focused on personal growth, rebuilt his mind, body, and spirit, and began to see that his pain had a purpose.

When he was released, Robert dedicated himself to becoming the man and mentor he wished he had growing up. Through faith, persistence, and determination, he built multiple businesses, learned the value of discipline, and developed the foundation for something much bigger — M.Y.D.A.R. (Make Your Dreams A Reality).

Our Mission

To empower, educate, and equip youth to break generational cycles of poverty, violence, and hopelessness by providing life skills training, mentorship, and real opportunities to build successful futures.

M.Y.D.A.R. is not just a program — it’s a movement designed to help youth in New Mexico discover their potential, develop purpose, and make their dreams a reality.

What We Do

At M.Y.D.A.R., we believe in second chances, hands-on learning, and real-world support. Our programs focus on the areas that truly matter:

• Life Skills & Leadership Training — Teaching youth how to survive, communicate, and thrive in the real world.

• Job & Career Development — Helping young people find and keep employment through guidance, preparation, and mentorship.

• Trade & Skill Programs — Giving students practical training in fields that lead to real careers.

• Entrepreneurship & Business Building — Showing youth how to start their own ventures and turn their ideas into income.

• Financial Literacy — Understanding credit, budgeting, and investing to build financial independence.

• Weekly Mentorship & Support — Staying connected through consistent guidance, motivation, and accountability.

We also provide motivational speaking, community outreach, and collaborative programs with schools, nonprofits, and businesses to give youth hands-on experience and exposure to real opportunities.

Why We Exist

Because too many young people in New Mexico feel forgotten, overlooked, or trapped by their circumstances.
Because not every kid will be a straight-A student, a college graduate, or a star athlete — and that’s okay.

M.Y.D.A.R. exists to show that every young person has value, talent, and potential. We help youth find their path, build confidence, and discover purpose — one step, one skill, one dream at a time.
